SBMS Scholarship Defined
The SBMS Scholarship offered by the Government of Andhra Pradesh is now commonly referred to as ePass. The name
"ePass" is an acronym for Electronic Payment and Application System of Scholarships. This scholarship is offered to
select groups of students studying post matriculation courses that are in need of financial assistance. The groups
of students eligible for ePass include the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Backward Class (BC),
Economically Backward Class (EBC), and the Disabled (DW). Those classified as BC-C are also eligible. Students
belonging to these groups whose parents meet the annual income criteria will be eligible for ePass. Additionally,
students must meet the requirement of 75 percent attendance each quarter.
The SBMS Scholarship offers both RTF and MTF. Reimbursement of Tuition Fee (RTF)
provides full tuition reimbursement for students that pursue post matric courses. These courses must be approved by
the University or Board at the school in which the student is enrolled. These colleges and universities include all
post matric colleges in Andhra Pradesh that are recognized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh or the Competent
Authority. RTF occurs on a semi-annual basis, usually in September and March of the academic year in progress.
Maintenance or Mess Tuition Fees (MTF) will be sanctioned on a monthly basis. MTF will be authorized according to
an established schedule based on group, courses, and rate per month. Rate per month is dependent upon attached
hostel, students managed, and hostel day scholars.
Courses eligible for the SBMS scholarship are categorized as Group I and
Group II post matric courses. Group I includes professional courses such as technology management, business
finance, medicine, and engineering. Group II includes other professional and technical graduate courses such as
post doctoral research. Group II covers post graduate courses as well as graduate level diploma and certificate
level courses.
