Sam's Credit Card Review
The Sam's credit card is
available for members of Sam's Club membership warehouse stores. The card can only be used for purchases at
Sam's Clubs and at WalMart, making it essentially a store credit card. Store credit cards in general are not
usually the best choice to add to your collection of financial tools. Having a separate card for numerous
individual stores tends to have an adverse effect on your overall credit rating, so many customers will want
to think twice before applying for this type of credit card.
The Sam's credit card comes in two types--a personal card and a business card. This division corresponds to the two
different types of Sam's Club memberships. If you have a personal membership at Sam's, you will receive a personal
credit card. If you have a business membership, you can apply for a business credit card. If you have a credit card
with Sam's, the card serves as your membership card, as well. In addition to paying for your Sam's Club purchases
with the card, you can also withdraw cash at club locations, which might prove convenient for some customers.
A better option for a Sam's credit card might be their other offering, which is a Sam's Club sponsored Discover
card. The card can be used for purchases at Sam's, but can also be used at any retail outlet that accepts Discover.
This version of the Sam's card also earns cash back for the card user. Because it is a Discover card, it does not
carry the same kind of stigma that a store card does as regards to your overall credit rating. The Discover card
version of the Sam's card also provides access to cash within the club location, and the cash withdrawal limit is
higher than it is for the Sam's-only store card. Overall, this card is more flexible and a better tool than the
Sam's store card.
