Protective Life Insurance Review
Protective Life Insurance and its family of companies provide several options to help you ensure your
financial security during retirement as well as that of your family after your death. Depending upon your goals for
your life insurance policy, Protective can recommend an insurance and/or investment product to help you meet your
long term needs.
Protective Life Insurance offers both term and permanent life insurance policies. Term life insurance provides a
policy that remains in effect for the period of time you choose. This is flexible and can be from as little as one
year to as much as thirty years, but often is for at least ten years. Term life insurance premiums are less than
premiums for other types of insurance policies. This policy's death benefit is tax-free and pays out directly to
your beneficiary or beneficiaries.
Permanent policies from Protective Life Insurance provide a variety of additional options. Premiums for this type
of insurance are generally higher than that for term life. The major types of permanent life insurance are:
- Whole life, also known as ordinary life. With this policy, both the premiums and the payout amount remain
steady.
- Universal life, also called adjustable life. This policy can be adjusted to some extent to meet changing
financial needs.
- Variable life. A variable life insurance policy changes in value based on the performance of various markets.
These changes affect both the death benefit and the policy's cash value. You are able to choose your own
portfolio.
- Variable-universal life. This type of policy combines attributes of both the variable and the universal option,
providing a greater opportunity for growth than universal life, but less risk than variable life.
The Protective Life website provides a variety of information, FAQ lists and tools to help you decide what type of
policy is best for your individual needs. Protective also offers several investment opportunities to help fund your
retirement.
