GEHA Insurance Reviews

GEHA insurance is designed to provide federal employees and their families with high-quality health coverage at affordable rates. GEHA offers three different plans, each with exceptional benefits for members.

The GEHA Standard Option offers low member premiums, and features minimal copayment requirements for routine medical care including primary care provider visits, laboratory testing, and specialist care. Vision coverage is included as part of the comprehensive coverage provided by GEHA, along with dental and hearing care services. The Standard Option does not require a referral for visits to a specialist; the nationwide provider network encompasses over 850,000 health care providers throughout the United States, ensuring that members can obtain the care they need wherever they may be.

The GEHA High Option plan provides similar coverage to the Standard Option, but at a much higher benefit level. For instance, hospital stays are covered at 100% of room and board and 90% of all other reasonable charges after the member pays the deductible; this high level of coverage provides a sense of financial security to GEHA members.

Prescription drugs are available at a minimal monthly copayment, and vision, hearing, and dental services are included in the GEHA High Option plan. Both the Standard Option and High Option plans allow for out-of-network coverage at a reduced benefit level, providing maximum flexibility for its members. GEHA insurance coverage is even available overseas.

GEHA Insurance Reviews - Health Savings Advantage

For those who prefer a greater level of control over their health care costs, the GEHA Health Savings Advantage plan combines a high-deductible insurance policy with a Health Savings Plan to allow consumers to make their own decisions regarding their health care choices.

Preventive care obtained in-network is covered at 100% with no deductible, including well-child visits and immunizations; for other care, a $1,500 annual deductible for individuals and a $3,000 family deductible must be met before benefit payments are made. GEHA makes annual contributions to the accompanying Health Savings Plan of $720 for individuals or $1,440 for families; this helps GEHA insurance policyholders plan for health care expenses and helps them accumulate an emergency medical fund more quickly than would otherwise be possible.
