Best Jobs For the Future
Five Best Jobs for the Future
With more and more companies downsizing or outsourcing, concerns about finding and keeping a job have affected a
wider portion of the population. Not only those just entering the workforce, but those who have been working in
their fields for quite some time are wondering what the best jobs for the future are likely to be.
Because of current trends in job placement and growth, the following ten areas are likely to contain some of the
best jobs for the future.
1. Skilled labor. Jobs that require extensive training and ability are difficult and sometimes even impossible to
outsource. These jobs include staple careers such as car mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, construction contractors,
and hairdressers among others.
2. Information technology (IT) and other high tech jobs. Our increasing reliance on computers puts IT jobs in
consistently high demand. While some IT functions can be outsourced, most customers as well as large companies
prefer to have an IT specialist in-house. In addition, those with high tech skills can find work in a variety of
industries. The entertainment industry in particular is likely to continue to experience growth and also creates a
demand for high tech specialists.
3. Service jobs and delivery services. Our busy lifestyles make it difficult for us to find time to perform tasks
that were once mundane, everyday expectations. Service jobs such as housecleaning, cooking, home maintenance and
other common but time-consuming needs also offer steady growth as one of the best jobs of the future. Delivery
services are also likely to become more popular as people do more online shopping and spend less time in
traditional retail settings.
4. Health care. Health care has always been a necessity, and always will be, especially as the general population
continues to become older. Nurses, doctors, therapists and other highly skilled health care professionals can
expect continued growth in their field. In many ways, the health care field is likely to offer many of the best
jobs for the future.
5. Low tech jobs. While high tech jobs remain in great demand, low tech jobs are also expected to stay steady.
Grocery stores and all their associated employees as well as skilled workers such as artists producing custom
jewelry or clothing cannot be ousted by growing technology or outsourcing because their services are either
constantly necessary or irreplaceably unique.
While other areas are also likely to reach stability or experience growth, these areas offer jobs many experts feel
will provide long-term demand for job seekers everywhere.
