AARP Medicare Complete: Improved Health Care Coverage for Senior Citizens

For seniors looking for a comprehensive health care coverage provider, AARP Medicare Complete plans offer all the benefits of traditional health care plans, often at no additional charge over and above your current Medicare Part B premiums. AARP has partnered with SecureHorizons to offer these high-value plans, which feature no exclusions for pre-existing conditions and require no physical examination. AARP’s plans, like most Medicare Advantage plans of the same type, offer lower copayments and additional services over the basic care provided by Medicare Part A and Part B. Prescription drug benefits are often included as well, depending on the plan chosen.

SecureHorizons is affiliated with United HealthCare, a major health insurance company with one of the largest preferred provider networks in the country. AARP Medicare Complete members can qualify for significantly reduced copayment amounts and increased benefits by remaining in network for their health care. Some plans allow for out-of-network coverage as well, typically with lower benefits and larger copayments. Vision correction, hearing aid coverage and dental care benefits may also be available to members of some AARP plans; most plans cover at least a portion of the cost of prescription drugs. Medicare Complete plans generally offer one annual physical examination with no copayment required.

AARP Medicare Complete coverage is available through HMO, point of service, and PPO plans. The HMO requires that patients remain within the preferred provider network in order to receive benefits, but provides the lowest out-of-pocket expense of the three types; specialist care requires a referral by the primary care physician. Point of service plans allow some out-of-network services, but offer greater benefit amounts for in-network procedures. PPO plans typically cost more in out-of-pocket expenses, but offer maximum flexibility to members; services may be obtained within or outside the preferred provider network, but maximum coverage is available only for in-network services. All plans cover emergency room care, regardless of the location, and offer the basic coverage provided by traditional Medicare plans as well as additional benefits designed to help senior citizens get the most out of their Medicare coverage and the most out of life.
